RENACCI CRITICIZED BOCCIERI FOR VOTING 94% WITH NANCY PELOSLI - BUT IT IS APPARENTLY OKAY FOR HIM TO FLAWLESSLY FOLLOW JOHN BOEHNER?

Republican Jim Renacci told 16th Congressional District voters during his November, 2010 campaign that he was going to be different from Democrat John Boccieri.

Whereas he made a big deal (rightfully so in the opinion of the SCPR) out of Boccieri voting 94% of the time with the then Democratic Party leader Nancy Pelosi, it now seems that the shoe is on the Republican foot (REPUBLICAN Jim Renacci's) everything is changed.  Apparently, it is now okay to vote in lock-step (Renacci's description in the video above) with one's party and the party leader.

More than anything a congressperson does, "voting in lock-step" with their political party is the most disgusting thing that politicians do.

It's as if they do not have a mind of their own.  And maybe they don't!

On the three major votes to have come before the U.S. House so far in Renacci's term (the repeal of the healthcare bill, the extension of the budget through fiscal year 2011 and the Paul Ryan fiscal year 2012 budget plan), Renacci has voted the Republican Party line and the Leader John Boehner line.

Eventually, this unfettering party allegiance will bite him in the rump.  How about this time next year when he has to defend his seat in congress?

He will squirm, wiggle, justify and contort.  But the numbers will swamp him like they did Boccieri.

But there is still time for him to avoid this self-made-trap.

Will he?

Probably not.

It appears that Renacci is every bit the partisan rhetorician that his predecessor was.

The question is whether or not (if the 16th district still exists - pretty much as it now is - in the face of upcoming redistricting) his hypocrisy will be determinative of whether or not he remains in Congress.
