A PANORAMA "SLIDESHOW VIEW" OF THE STARK BOE MEETING OF TODAY
As the first in a number of blogs the SCPR will be publishing on today's meeting of the Stark County Board of Elections (BOE) "special holiday" (Presidents' Day) meeting on certifying the petitions of candidates who filed on or before February 5th. The 5th of this month a 4:00 PM was the filing deadline candidates who want to appear on the May 6, 2014 primary election ballot.
Of course, the headliner candidacies are those for sheriff involving Republican candidate Larry Dordea and Democratic candidate George T. Maier.
Maier is currently serving as the Stark County Democratic Party Central Committee (SCDP-CC) appointee (as second time [December 13, 2013) after being ousted by the Ohio Supreme Court on November 6th.
Dordea and Maier were certified as to their petitions and Dordea was certified as qualified under the criteria of Ohio Revised Code Section 311.01 where Maier was not because of a pending hearing on the issue to be held this Friday beginning at 09:00 AM at the Canton Chamber of Commerce Millennium Center (200 Market Ave., North).
For this first blog on the day's proceedings, the SCPR presents this slideshow collage of the folks as observers and participants in the meeting.
If a decision were to be made on the basis of a show of support, Maier wins hands down. It seemed like all of the Stark County sheriff's department was present. There were so many deputies and administrative types that a number of them were left standing out in the hallway.
Hmm?
Also present was Stark County Dems chairman Randy Gonzalez who has consistently shown throughout the Party challenges to Maier that nobody is more committed to the Dems' appointee than Chairman Randy.
Check back throughout the day and into tomorrow for Stark County most detailed and thorough coverage of the challenge to George Maier's ORC 311.01 qualification.
