A week ago today, Stark Countians voted in the 2014 primary election.

And the number voting was absolutely shameful!

However, as shameful as 13.7% is, the numbers are even worse in some precincts.

Headlined in this blog are those precincts that came in at less than 5% voting.

It is interesting to the Stark County Political Report that very worst precinct voting rate was in Canton Councilperson Chris Smith's Ward 4.

Interesting?

Would would The Report say that?

Because Chris Smith is one of the hardest working councilpersons on Canton City Council Ward 4 in terms of her getting Ward 4 residents their fair share of government services.

For Canton Wards/Precincts 4-B and 4-F to mark the top 2 of 3 precinct with 2.03% and 2.63% of registered voters voting does not speak well for the residents of 4-B and 4-F which is why the SCPR puts them at the top of the list for the Stark County Political Report Registered Voters "Hall-of-Shame,"

What the 2.03% means in Ward/Precinct 4-B:
  • 62 registered Democrats were eligible to vote,
  • 10 registered Democrats voted on May 6th (of which 9 voted for precinct committeeperson Linda Snow-Rivers) which said 10 total voting amounted to:
    •  1.3% of the total 789 registered voters, and
    •  16% of the 62 registered Democrats (i.e. 1.6 voters out every 10 Democrats)
  • There are only 10 registered Republicans in Ward/Precinct 4-B,
  • HOWEVER, that means that 60% of those eligible to vote voted.
    • Nevertheless of the 789 total registered voters, adding the six Republicans voted only increased Tuesday's total to 2.03%
Again, SHAME ON WARD/PRECINCT 4-B VOTERS.

Perhaps Councilperson Smith and Precinct Committeeperson-elect Snow-Rivers will take note of the disgraceful numbers and go to work to get a much larger turnout not only in the upcoming general election but in future primary elections?

No part of Stark County distinguished itself in last Tuesday's election.

Here is the entire list of Stark's 284 ward/precincts:

Even Osnaburg (42.76%, one precinct) and Bethlehem (41.81%, one precinct) is nothing to "write home about."

Just look - will you - at the disgraceful percentages of total registered voters approving tax issues last Tuesday:  (SCPR Note:  Data source - SCBOE, text and highlights added)

Simply unbelievable, a mere 8.19% of "registered to vote" Minervians  increased taxes for all of Minerva.

The flip side of that is that one wouldn't want to hear objections to the increased tax from the 86.9% of "registered to vote" Minervians who elected not to exercise their franchise.

The primary election of 2014 will go down as one of the most shameful days in all of Stark County electoral history.

Shame on you!  Voters of all of Stark County!!!
