Chief Deputy Auditor Gary Young is one of Stark County's most respected public officials. Republicans and Democrats alike hold Young in high regard. Commissioner Janet Creighton (R - Canton) has told the SCPR in a past conversation that she has the highest confidence in Young and the integrity of the data he presents.
In fact, when Mayor Healy said recently (has he has repeatedly said to and in the presence of The Report) that Creighton left the incoming Healy administration with a financial mess, she retorts by saying: "check with Gary Young." That's how much she believes in Young's (who is a Democrat) integrity.
So Mayor Healy was blessed to have Young speak at what the SCPR believes is a Healy contrived series of political events clothed in a civics-esque "let's work as a team to solve Canton's financial problems."
Undoubtedly, Young wants Canton's nightmarish financial problems solved for the well being of Cantonians, The Report does not think for one moment that he is a part of Healy's drive "to save his own political bacon."
