One could tell from the get-go of his 5th Annual "State of the City" presentation that Canton Mayor William J. Healy, II could hardly contain his excitement at the prospect of announcing at the very end of his State of the City message that he was dubbing Canton as The Utica Capital as an additional Canton "aka" the Pro Football Hall of Fame city.

Early on in his speech last night in Canton City Council chambers (about 55 minutes in duration) he tipped off the audience, which the SCPR estimates to have been about 75 persons, that he would be having a momentous announcement later on.

In getting to the revelation of the night, the mayor reviewed the last year of his administration in the context of his previously developed and used concept of the four pillars of his effort to revive Canton:
  • public safety,
  • education,
  • neighborhoods-community development, and
  • economic development
Over the weekend, The Report will be presenting a number of analytical blogs on various aspects of Healy's speech.
