(VIDEO) CANDIDATE INTERVIEW FOR MAYOR: PART V - "CHIP" CONDE SPEAKS ABOUT ROLE OF EDUCATION IN CANTON'S RECOVER & HIS SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS TO BE MAYOR

Today, the SCPR wraps up this particular video series (in five parts) on Republican "Chip" Conde's candidacy to be the party's nominee for mayor of Canton coming out of the May primary.

However, between now and May 3rd, The Report will be continuing its in depth coverage of the race from both sides of the isle supported by video in which candidates have their say "in their own words" provided, of course, that they have the courage to take the questions of the SCPR.

On the Democratic side, there is a developing flap between Mayor Healy and Councilman Bill Smuckler on the 9-1-1 emergency services issue.  At last Tuesday's monthly meeting on Canton's city finances instituted by Healy (no public input, thank you) Smuckler embarrassed Healy by bringing out in the meeting that the Healy administration was sitting on a "letter of intent" regarding Canton's support of and participation in the countywide rework of 9-1-1 which could save Canton $400,000.

On Monday, the SCPR will have an incisive blog on that Democratic side to the developing mayoral contest story.

In today's video, "Chip" Conde provides his view on the role of education in Canton's economic recovery plan and he lists his impressive set of accomplishments during his service as finance director and chief of staff in the Creighton administration which immediately preceded the Healy administration.
