STARK COUNTY POLITICIANS ARE PREOCUPPIED WITH THIS QUESTION: WILL FORMER CANTON MAYOR JANET CREIGHTON RUN FOR OFFICE IN 2010?

UPDATE:  November 12, 2009 at 11:30 AM

Yours truly just got off the phone with Janet Creighton.  Canton's former mayor told the SCPR that The Report's source (a Republican who recently ran for elective office in Canton as a Republican) is wrong about saying she told him that she is waiting on God to give her direction on whether or not to seek political office in 2010.

Creighton went on to say that she has not made up her mind on whether or not she will be a 2010 candidate, but when she does, the SCPR will be on her "to call" list with her decision.

ORIGINAL POST

The SCPR has many, many political contacts in Stark County.

And The Report has asked repeatedly:  Will Janet Weir Creighton run for office in 2010?

Answers:

"I don't have a clue"

"I don't know."

"She's keeping her options open."

"She's post-political."  Meaning that she's been there and done that and now is into being a venerable citizen-statesperson.

"She's not saying."

"She's only interested in appointed office."

And on and on goes the list of answers with no - yes or no - definition to them.

That is until, last night.

Last night I talked with a Canton Republican who said that Janet told him that she is waiting for direction from God.

Finally, Stark Countians know why we have been waiting.

But, what will God say?

The SCPR believes it wil be:  "Run, Janet, Run!"

But for what office?

Take your pick:  Stark County commissioner (Bosley) or Stark County auditor (Perez).

If the Stark County Republican Party is to make a resurgence countywide, the SCPR believes that Janet Creighton is the most powerful local Republican with the needed political and office-holding experience to "lead-the-way."

If Creighton cares about political competition and Republican Party viability in Stark County, she will pick one of these two races and make the run.

Stark County Republicans along with those who think political competition is what Stark County needs most in 2010, should be beseeching the Almighty to give Janet the this key message:

Run, Janet, Run!
