The SCPR has learned that Johnnie A. Maier, Jr. (Massillon clerk of courts and former Stark County Democratic Party chairman) recently got into a tiff with Auditor Jayne Ferrero (Massillon) on the question of whether or not Maier and complied with Massillon Mayor Francis (Frank) H. Cicchinelli's request (as widely reported in area press reports) that all Massillon departments of government make 20% cuts.
Massillon is in the midst of a severe financial crisis.
Here's how the SCPR's source described Maier's reaction to Ferrero's challenge on the question of the 20% cuts:
While arguing with Massillon City Auditor Jayne Ferrero about 20% cut backs he refused to make in his office. True to form he became increasingly angry and stormed out of the auditors office went directly back to his office, demanded a long time employee [Ferrero's sister-in-law employed in the office since 1997] get in his office NOW, told her to clean out her desk and on her way out of the building stop and tell her sister-in-law the Auditor she represented his 20 %.The SCPR has confirmed the dismissal with a Massillon official.
Undoubtedly, Maier would deny that the sister-in-law dismissal had anything to do with his fight with Ferrero.
But who will believe it?
