DISCUSSION: MASSILLON GOVERNMENT - CONTROLLED EXCLUSIVELY BY DEMOCRATS WANTS TO GIVE RESIDENTS "LESS GOVERNMENT?"

Mission Accomplished! (Thank you, George Bush) "We've taken care of business." That's the message coming out of Massillon City Council.

Councilman Chuck Maier - brother of Stark County Democratic chair Johnnie A. Maier, Jr. - took the lead on Council this week in pushing for a two month vacation.

Everything in Massillon must be "hunky-dory" and Massillon Council is trying to give "Tigerland" "less government" - a Republican mantra. But hold on a minute, this is a totally Democratic body.

Perhaps Kathy Catazaro-Perry (another Johnnie Maier confidant but not a relative) needs the time to plan the STARK COUNTY POLITICAL REPORT (The Report) predicted upcoming campaign for mayor against current Mayor Francis Cicchinelli, Jr?

Matters are going so well with Massillon City Council these days that one is hearkened back to 1823 and the James Monroe administration and the ushering in of an "era of good feeling." If it were possible, Council ought to be booking Monroe for a guest appearance at next Council meeting.

The only thing troubling Council these days is whether or not to go on vacation!

Oops. There goes that "era of good feeling." It's back to business as usual.

Question: It is a good thing isn't it, when government wants to go on vacation?
