DISCUSSION: DOES THE REP LISTEN TO STARK COUNTIANS?

One of the STARK COUNTY POLITICAL REPORT'S (The Report) favorite Stark County Citizen-Activist is Louisville's Kevin Ellis.

Kevin has been on top of the American Electric Power (AEP)/Ohio Power requested 52% (residential) 62% (business) increases over the next three years.

He has pleaded - for some time now - with "the powers that be" at The Canton Repository to make this unfolding story a high priority in the local news and editorial sections of Stark County's only countywide newspaper.

Kevin has been largely ignored by The Rep's management.

Here The Report presents excerpts of Citizen-Activist Ellis' e-mail to The Rep's management: (in yellow)

Ohio phone company wants to curb printed White Pages

PUCO considers White Pages waiver(Print Edition)

...

AND THE BEAT GOES ON!!!!

Most certainly this PUCO WAIVER regarding the possible demise of the Print Version of the Cincinnati Bell White Pages, would be of tremendous interest in the Queen City on the Ohio River, but I doubt it would be of only limited interest to those of us residing in Stark County.

However, the PLAIN DEALER headline “PUCO halts fees amid debate on law” and the Beacon Journal’s “PUCO ruling may lower Ohio Edison rates” would be of great interest to both First Energy and American Electric Power residential, commercial and industrial customers in the Greater Canton areas.

FYI, copies of both articles are enclosed below and hopefully some day, in the near future, the Canton Repository will see fit to feature articles on the PUCO hearings in Columbus relating to AEP’s 52% Rate Increase Demand, http://dis.puc.state.oh.us/CaseRecord.aspx?CaseNo=08-918-el-sso&x=10&y=6. As stated many times previously, this AEP increase, if granted by the PUCO, WILL KILL what is left of OHIO’s struggling economy. Your newspaper’s continual SILENCE in this matter only supports these electric companies in their quest for supreme domination in a completely unregulated environment.

I can hardly wait for the next installment of CanRep’s Disappearing Telephone Company White Pages in Ohio.

...

Question: Is The Rep (as Stark County's only countywide newspaper) giving the AEP/Ohio Power rate increase story fair play?

The Canton Rep now has their own agenda ..... to save themselves.

Their limited staff SEEMS to report from behind their desks. If it's not happening where the eat lunch or within a block of their offices on Market, they do NOT see it or hear about it. Right now they are fronting an ongoing race relations topic .... this is an easy topic, just wtach the comments on their web site. (Stir the pot then stand back to watch it boil mentality)
