DISCUSSION: FBI INVESTIGATION? HOW ABOUT A STARK COUNTY INVESTIGATION?
The STARK COUNTY POLITICAL REPORT (The Report) has learned that a Stark County investigation has been launched with respect to the female with whom Mayor William J. Healy, II is alleged to have had an inappropriate relationship with.
Healy adamantly denies the allegation and has, in fact, asked the FBI to investigate a number of anonymous letters which have surfaced making the allegation.
It is difficult to believe that Healy would be so audacious as to seize the initiative in asking for an investigation by a government entity unless he was certain that the results would exonerate him.
But The Report recognizes that many public officials have been known to vehemently posture innocence only to be found later to be culpable.
For the sake of Canton and Healy himself, The Report hopes this is not a case of "be careful what you ask for."
In any event, the investigative process needs to proceed with deliberate haste so that the city of Canton can move beyond the turmoil this situation brings with it so that city government can resume some semblance of normalcy.
Meanwhile, Cantonians and Stark Countians will just have to wait and see.
The Report is mystified as to why Stark County's only countywide newspaper has not dealt with this matter. But The Report is advised that The Rep will be posting a story tomorrow, January 28th.
The Report has linked up with WKYC's report on Healy's response and action vis-a-vis the anonymous letters: CLICK HERE TO SEE THE WKYC VIDEO REPORT.

Well since the country is getting ready or a splurge of impeachments, we might as well start here in Canton. The sooner the better.
Thanks for keeping on top of this, Martin. For somebody who has nothing to hide, Hizzhonor is being awfully paranoid.
Who knows but I never heard of the FBI opening up an investigation without some basis for belief that a crime had been committed. If this was inappropriate conduct with a juvenile then it is something for the police or sheriff's office to investigate. If it has to do with anonymous letters received by the mayor and/or his family my suspicion is the contents of the letters make the mayor and/or his family victims of a federal crime. Why has no one inquired of the FBI, the police and the sheriff as to whether they are or are not conducting an investigation?
At least we have some hint of what is going on, but it leads to even more questions. The chief has been muzzled by the safety director. You would think the media would ask the safety director WHY he has usurped the chief's authority to talk to them.
Maybe because its the Repository....
Why would the FBI be involved in something this minor? Where is the alleged Federal offense? Because the US mail was possibly used? I guess I'm just not smart enough to see the BIG picture. And, I'm thinking it's an ugly one.
I've been wondering, too, unless it's something bigger. I could be wrong, but if a threat a came in the mail, I thought the US Postal Service handled it. You know, a public official being shaken down. You don't suppose he's crying national security or something, do you?
The Rep could answer alot of these questions. Just a call to the sheriff, or chief, or FBI agent/s/ involved in the investigation would confirm/deny any investigation. It also could advise what, if any jurisdiction they have in these matters. They refuse to even do that. It is a disservice to the mayor, who had to go to Cleveland tv to get the message out. It is also a disservice to the public.
You would think the Rep has some sort of obligation to report to the citizens as much factual news on this as possible. Instead, they choose to shut off the only source of news, their commentary section.
